Roasted Chana Dal Chutney



This chutney is made with staple pantry items from your kitchen. It is easy to make and taste wonderful. Chana dal is Split Chickpea, we can use whole chickpea as well.

Ingredients

Roasted Gram-1/2 Cup

Salt-1/2 tsp

Tamarind -1 small gooseberry size

Red Chilly-4 nos

Garlic pods-2 nos

Water


For seasoning

Oil-1 tbsp

Mustard Seed-1/2 tsp

Cumin Seed-1/2 tsp

Urad Dal-1/2 tsp

Asafoetida-1 pinch

Curry leaves- 1 string


Utensils Required

Blender

Frying Pan

Method

Step 1: Take a blender and add roasted gram, salt, tamarind, garlic pods, chillies and grind everything to a smooth paste by adding enough water to chutney consistency.

(Optional) Add more water to the chutney to make it to running consistency.

Transfer the ground chutney to a serving bowl.


Step 2: For seasoning, take a small frying pan and pour oil and let it heat, then add mustard seed and allow it to splutter followed by adding urad dal, cumin seed, asafoetida and curry leaves. Once the raw smell goes off, turn off the stove and pour the seasoning into the chutney and give it a mix.


Now the chutney is ready to be served.


This chutney goes well with Idli and Dosa :)
