Healthy Guilt Free Homemade Dark Chocolate





What inspired me to make this!

When I was surfing on youtube how chocolate is made, I stumbled upon this video,

https://youtu.be/Jl0IDXkYKbk and I had Cacao nibs at home and just went ahead and tried it. Making chocolate at home with just a few healthy ingredients is just easy! Mine is even a one-bowl recipe!


My Recipe Version


Ingredients:

  1. Cacao nibs. - 1 Cup

  2. Creamed Coconut - 4 tbsps

  3. Chopped fresh dates - 1/3 Cup

Method:

  • First thing is, you need to grind the cacao nibs into cacao butter. I used an Indian Mixer Grinder. First, the cacao nibs will turn into powder, keep grinding, and every 30 secs, open and scrape the sides, continue until you get a nice glossy cacao butter. This is pure 100% dark cacao.

  • Add the creamed coconut and grind it until it blends well.

  • Add the chopped dates and grind it until it gets blended well into the mixture.

  • Pour them into molds. (I used stainless steel trays)

  • Let them sit on the counter for 6 to 8 hrs, they solidify. Or you can place them in the refrigerator to solidify faster or you live where the temperature is high.



Once it solidifies and forms bar, cut and enjoy!!


Other variations I have tried,

1. Creamed coconut is optional, it helps to mild down the bitterness of the chocolate.

2. Instead of chopped dates, you can add dates sugar or coconut sugar

3. You can spice up your chocolate with powders like cinnamon, ginger, and turmeric, etc

4. Add chopped nuts or seeds(flaxseeds, pumpkin, sunflower)
